Olivia's Souvenirs from Florida

Brian and I were in Fort Walton Beach, Florida this past weekend visiting his 90+ year old grandparents. We left Friday and got home Monday (yesterday). I missed Olivia terribly. I didn't buy a single thing for myself as a souvenir but she got some new stuff (some she likes better than others, haha).

If you guessed this new ensemble is not Olivia's favorite gift from my trip, than you are correct! But Easter is coming and it was too cute to pass up! I found it at Petco which I do have here at home but it's an hour or more away.

As you may (maybe not) be able to read on the label these are K9 Candy Buttons, made from vanilla yogurt, carob, and peanut butter. I bought them at a privately owned dog store called 3 Dogs & a Chick, which was part bakery and part pet products. They even make and ship their baked goods and you can order your dog a birthday cake (they overnight them, I asked).

If anyone has a recipe for these or something similar I'd love if you would share it!

I also bought these at Petco, Olivia hasn't tried them yet though (but she does like their peanut butter). I got them buy 2 get 1 free with my Petco rewards card. I like this brand because they are made in the USA (yay!) and the fact that they are sort of like Toms Shoes where you buy one and they give to a dog in need.

You can check out their website with their mission and what they do here.

The next thing I really want to do is plan a vacation that Olivia can come on too, because while our trip was enjoyable, I would have had a whole lot more fun if I could have brought Olivia along too!

Olivia's Christmas Dog Toy Giveaway!

Olivia and I would like to spread Christmas cheer with our fellow [dog] bloggers (sorry kitties!). I put together a prize pack that I hope will be appropriately sized for most pups.

Contents:
1- Mickey Mouse Bottle Cruncher
1- Ginger Bread Man Crinkle Toy (Stuffing-Free)
1- Sweet Potato Pie Wet Nose Stocking Stuffer Sized Treats
1- Apple Pie Wet Nose Stocking Stuffer Sized Treats

If you would like to be in the running for Olivia's Giveaway please e-mail me with the subject Olivia's Giveaway and in the body of the e-mail your name and email address so I can e-mail the winner.

I tried to set up a linky tool but got confused. I'm going to pick the old fashioned way- put all the names (with their e-mail addresses) in a hat and then blindly pull one.

I will pull the winner on December 10, 2013 and will let the winner know via e-mail as soon as I can after that. Hopefully, if everything works like I hope the winner will receive their prize in time for Christmas!

The Amazing Pet Expo: Atlanta

So I've been taking a blog-cation. But here it ends.

Brian (my fiancee), Olivia, and I went to the Amazing Pet Expo: Atlanta on Saturday. We drove 3 hours to get there and we were there when it opened at 10 am. We brought the stroller but Brian insisted on carrying Olivia around.

The East TN Boston Terrier Rescue was there and they loved Olivia. I made a $25 donation for their calendar, which is really well done! The photos are all based on movies and it's so cute :) Especially if you like Boston Terriers BOL.

There was a pet photographer who was taking the photos for free and emailing them to you later on. If you wanted to buy the photos you could once you saw them. Of course, we had Olivia's photo taken.

There were free dog cookies every where you turned, free handouts, flyers, all sorts of free-bees. We got many frisbees and tennis balls, travels bowls, and chap stick, even.

I bought Pet Cakes microwave dog treats, a JackSack poop bag holders, and some misc. other Boston Terrier and doggy items. Olivia also got her nails trimmed for free!

We got to see lots of demos, frisbee, obedience, and agility. It was funny how interested in it Olivia was. We saw Shorty Rossi (Pit Boss) and Hercules. And the biggest celebrity we met was the blogosphere's very own Preston!

Preston is very cute (he was wearing a nice polo) and because we follow his blog we got a PrestonSpeaks frisbee! We chatted with Preston's parents and then later heard Preston's mom talk about how to save money buying stuff for your pets, with an emphasis on traveling. It was really interesting!

We had to stick around until 5 pm for the costume contest and some people took it overboard, check out the photos below to see what I mean!

SHOPPING SPREE!!! ....

.... Well sort of. I spent all my own money... so it wasn't quite a hopping spree in that sense. But Olivia and I had a great time today at Petsmart. First we went and ordered my contact lenses at the eye dr., then we hit the Arby's drive thru. Olivia was panting like crazy so I pulled out her pop-up bowl and the bottle of water and opened her crate with the intention of putting the bowl in her box. She came climbing out and into my lap and drank her water there instead (while we were waiting in line for my lunch). Being a drool-y thing she proceeded to spit all over the $20 bill I intended on paying with. Oh well! LOL. Olivia got pushed back in her box and I ate my sandwich on the way to Petsmart.

It's been chilly here in the morning. Like 50-ish degrees. It's August. In South Carolina. It's okay, I'm not quite sure either. So because the weather has been so hot, and because she has a smushy face and cant warm the air, and because Olivia has like 0% body fat.... she's been shivering out in the barn when we feed the horses breakfast in this strange chilly air. So. A trip to Petsmart was needed to buy her a coat/jacket/sweater... whatever I could find that fit. You see my problem is this-- in a dress or a t-shirt Olivia can squeeze into a small. But for a coat/jacket/sweater that was too tight and fit weird. I wanted something dirt and weather proof. We ended up buying a pink looks-like-down coat with a chest strap and a belly strap and a hood with faux fur trim. Not what I went in for, but it's just so cute. While we were there I had to, of course, look at all the Halloween stuff and toys and what not. So in total we got:
  • the pink coat
  • a pink t-shirt with a monster and the words "little monster" (I call her Livie Monster, so I found it appropriate)
  • a pink sweater dress
  • a pink sweater with a bling-ed out princess crown on it
  • a green crinkle froggy-franknstein toy with a squeaker in his head
  • three bags of Blue Buffalo Bits puppy training treats
  • and some stuff for the cat
I went in and spent more than I meant too. Oops. Story of my life.
