Teaching How to Jump Through a Hula Hoop

As a lot of you know Olivia and I are working on her riding a skateboard. Right now, though, I'm a little bit stuck on it because the ground is so flat so she doesn't have a hill to naturally help propel her and encourage her to pull her other feet up on the board and really ride it.

In the mean time while I find a solution to that problem, I'm thinking I'd like to teach Olivia to jump through a hula hoop! She naturally enjoys jumping over things in her way and I think she and i could have a lot of fun with it! I found this great video on how to teach the trick and I'm going to try to buy one at Target tonight :)

I'll keep you guys posted on our progress!!

Here's the video I found with the steps I plan on using:

Columbia SC Boston Terrier Club- Meet-Up 3: Boston Terrier Takeover

This past Saturday was the third meet-up of the newly started Boston Terrier club we joined. This was the first themed one and it was to have your dog wear their favorite spring outfit. Problem is the dog park is really dusty so I brought Olivia's outfit and she wore it for a split second and then took it off again to go  play. The turn out was great and the dogs all had a blast! There were a bunch of new comers too. Olivia made a new friend, a Boston with one blue eye named Maeby.

One of the Boston Terrier moms was joking that the dog park was taken over by an army of gremlins and later said "this is a dog park not a piggy park!"

Scroll down to see photos and videos of the Boston Terrier Takeover! (Olivia is the one barking in the videos).

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Olivia!

DogForDog DogsBar Review

I mentioned in a previous post that I bought Olivia (and Fern) some DogForDog DogsBars at Petco. Today I decided to let the girls try one, I split one bar in half because they're pretty big. They're about the size of a human granola bar. The girls tried the peanut butter flavored bar.

the wrapper and the treat itself

Olivia approves!

nom nom nom

Fern took her's under the dining room
table and devoured it
I also tasted the treat, and it wasn't bad! Tasted like peanuts! This product is made in the USA and gives back to dogs in need. It doesn't get much better than that. I would definitely re-purchase this product and recommend it to friends :)

Thoughtless Thursday: His and Hers Dog Products

At Petco over the the weekend I was highly amused when I realized they had his and hers grooming products for dogs. Obviously they weren't labeled for male or female use only but the packaging spoke volumes, especially since they were on the shelf next to each other. I must admit I have previously purchased the doggie face wipes in the girl specific looking container, and they smell awesome. The boy-looking products even had a hair gel, and I tried to convince Brian he should try it himself as he wanted a new gel but he wasn't moved by my argument.

His

Hers

I guess the thing that interested me the most is these products could be used on any dog, and gender. The companies are really targeting the owners, and I know I'd totally buy the STUD line if I had a male dog, so clearly these brands know what their doing.

Olivia's Souvenirs from Florida

Brian and I were in Fort Walton Beach, Florida this past weekend visiting his 90+ year old grandparents. We left Friday and got home Monday (yesterday). I missed Olivia terribly. I didn't buy a single thing for myself as a souvenir but she got some new stuff (some she likes better than others, haha).

If you guessed this new ensemble is not Olivia's favorite gift from my trip, than you are correct! But Easter is coming and it was too cute to pass up! I found it at Petco which I do have here at home but it's an hour or more away.

As you may (maybe not) be able to read on the label these are K9 Candy Buttons, made from vanilla yogurt, carob, and peanut butter. I bought them at a privately owned dog store called 3 Dogs & a Chick, which was part bakery and part pet products. They even make and ship their baked goods and you can order your dog a birthday cake (they overnight them, I asked).

If anyone has a recipe for these or something similar I'd love if you would share it!

I also bought these at Petco, Olivia hasn't tried them yet though (but she does like their peanut butter). I got them buy 2 get 1 free with my Petco rewards card. I like this brand because they are made in the USA (yay!) and the fact that they are sort of like Toms Shoes where you buy one and they give to a dog in need.

You can check out their website with their mission and what they do here.

The next thing I really want to do is plan a vacation that Olivia can come on too, because while our trip was enjoyable, I would have had a whole lot more fun if I could have brought Olivia along too!

Boston Terriers Are a Girl's Best Friend

So by now I Think it's clear that I love Etsy, and I especially love using Etsy to buy awesome Boston Terrier stuff!

I just received the new t-shirt I ordered, and it's super cute :) It says "Whoever said diamonds are a girls best friend never owned a Boston Terrier" So true! I'd rather have a Boston Terrier than diamonds any day! I chose to buy it in pink but it seems to come in a lot of great colors.

Update from the Weekend

This weekend was a busy one! We attended the second meet-up of the Columbia South Carolina Boston Terrier Club. It was in the 40's (temperature) so a bit chilly and I think that's what affected the turn-out. Olivia was one of six Bostons in attendance. Other local people brought their non-Boston terrier dogs. Olivia wore her red barn coat this time out which made it a lot easier to tell which of the black and white dogs was mine haha.

On Saturday I received the new Boston Terrier hairbow that I'd ordered off Etsy. The price was right and it was cute, and I sort of have an Etsy addiction- especially for buying Boston Terrier items.

Sunday we went to a local horse show, Olivia showed off her new Minnie Mouse bandana and her new Minnie mouse leash. She loves going and watching the horses, and the activity. Plus, we met up with my riding instructor and her three dogs, who are Olivia's best friends.

And then, of course, there is Olivia's new best friend "Woody" a hunk of wood she found in my yard and is now obsessed with. She even tries to bring Woody in the house and miraculously always remembers where she left Olivia on the lawn. Olivia is really good about finding more... natural... toys.

Sepia Saturday: Diggin' a Hole with Olivia Rose

Olivia loves to dig holes. I snapped this funny photo of her digging with her face covered in mud. Haha :)
